Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds is an Australian rock band formed in Melbourne in 1983 by singer Nick Cave, multi-instrumentalist Mick Harvey, and guitarist Blixa Bargeld. Known for their evolving sound and poetic songwriting, the group has become one of the most influential acts in post-punk and alternative rock. Over the years, the Bad Seeds have included members from Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland, and Germany, with current members including Warren Ellis, Martyn P. Casey, George Vjestica, Larry Mullins, Thomas Wydler, and Jim Sclavunos. Emerging after the breakup of Cave and Harvey's previous band, the Birthday Party, the Bad Seeds began with a dark, intense blend of post-punk, blues, and gothic rock. In the 1990s, they explored softer, more melodic styles, with albums like The Good Son and The Boatman's Call. The group's later work, especially after Harvey's exit in 2009, embraced electronic and ambient elements, as heard on critically acclaimed albums such as Push the Sky Away, Skeleton Tree, and Ghosteen. Their eighteenth studio album, Wild God, was released in 2024, continuing their legacy of innovation and international appeal.
