The Boomtown Rats are an Irish rock and new wave band formed in Dublin in 1975. Known for major hits like Like Clockwork, Rat Trap, I Don't Like Mondays and Banana Republic, they found success through the late 1970s and early 1980s. The original group featured Bob Geldof as lead vocalist, joined by Gerry Cott, Simon Crowe, Johnnie Fingers, Garry Roberts and Pete Briquette. The band split in 1986, later reunited in 2013 without Fingers and Cott, and continued to perform after the death of Garry Roberts in 2022. The Boomtown Rats are often associated with the humanitarian work of Bob Geldof.
