RuPaul Andre Charles, born in 1960 in San Diego, is an American drag queen, television personality, singer, producer, writer, and actor. He is best known as the creator and host of RuPaul's Drag Race, a groundbreaking reality competition series that has won numerous awards, including 14 Primetime Emmy Awards. Widely recognized as the most successful and famous drag queen in the world, RuPaul’s influence extends across music, television, and pop culture. He first gained international fame with his 1993 hit single “Supermodel (You Better Work)” and became the first drag queen to front a major cosmetics campaign with MAC Cosmetics. RuPaul has released fifteen studio albums and authored four books. Beyond Drag Race and its many international spinoffs, his television credits include The RuPaul Show, Skin Wars, and AJ and the Queen. In 2018, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. RuPaul is celebrated for his significant impact on LGBTQ representation and mainstream entertainment.
