The Stone Roses were an influential English rock band from Manchester, formed in 1983. Key figures in the Madchester scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s, their classic lineup featured Ian Brown on vocals, John Squire on guitar, Mani on bass, and Reni on drums. Their 1989 debut album is widely celebrated as one of the greatest British records, blending rock with dance and psychedelic influences. Legal disputes with their early label slowed their momentum, and after a mixed response to their second album, Second Coming, in 1994, the band split by 1996. The Stone Roses reunited in 2011 for a world tour and released new singles in 2016, but disbanded again soon after. Their legacy remains central to British indie and alternative music.
