João Donato de Oliveira Neto was a celebrated Brazilian jazz and bossa nova pianist and trombonist from Rio Branco, born in 1934 and passing in 2023. Early in his career, he played with Altamiro Carrilho and later collaborated with renowned artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim and Astrud Gilberto. Growing up in a region where Cuban music was frequently heard on the radio, Donato blended these rhythms with Brazilian styles, creating a unique sound. His best-known works include "Amazonas," "Lugar Comum," "Simples Carinho," "Até Quem Sabe," and "Nasci Para Bailar."
