Janáček loved his region and joined his folk songs, especially from his native Hukvaldy near Příbor. It was therefore natural for him to collect and study numerous folk songs and dances. He provided at least 150 folk songs from Moravia, Silesia and Slovakia with piano accompaniment. Moravian folk poetry in songs - this is the name given to Janáček around 1908 a collection of 53 songs with piano accompaniment, which he composed in 1892 and 1902. The accompaniments are based on the content of the text, the mood and the psychology of the song. The form is consistently strophic, with only small variations in individual styles. The composer's goal was especially true and original sound. The collection is based on Czech and German texts translated by Kurt Honolka.
