Rick Springfield, born Richard Lewis Springthorpe on August 23, 1949, is an Australian-American musician and actor known for his energetic blend of pop and rock. After joining the band Zoot in the late 1960s, he launched a solo career with the hit single Speak to the Sky in 1972. Springfield rose to international fame with his chart-topping hit Jessie's Girl in 1981, earning a Grammy Award. Throughout the 1980s, he scored several more top ten singles and released successful albums like Working Class Dog and Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet. Beyond music, Springfield has acted in films and TV, most notably as Dr Noah Drake on General Hospital and in series such as High Tide and Californication. He also published a popular memoir, Late, Late at Night.
