Steven Lee Lukather, born October 21, 1957, is an acclaimed American guitarist, singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer. Best known as the only continuous founding member of Toto, Lukather has left a major mark on rock and pop music, contributing to over 1,500 albums as a session guitarist since the 1970s. His work includes key roles on Boz Scaggs' albums and Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and he is also a Grammy-winning songwriter, arranger, and producer. Inspired by George Harrison to pick up the guitar, Lukather developed a melodic yet powerful style shaped by influences like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Al Di Meola, and John McLaughlin. Renowned for his efficient, one-take studio recordings and preference for clean tones, he primarily plays his signature Ernie Ball Music Man electric guitar, along with Yamaha and Ovation acoustic-electric models. Lukather’s solo discography includes nine albums, most recently Bridges, released in 2023.
