Vincenzo Maltempo, born in 1985 in Benevento, Italy, is a highly regarded Italian pianist known for his passionate interpretations and technical mastery. He studied under Salvatore Orlando and graduated with top honors from the St. Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, later refining his skills at the International Piano Academy in Imola with Riccardo Risaliti.
Maltempo launched his international career after winning the Premio Venezia in 2006, performing in renowned venues across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. His recordings, notably for the Piano Classics label, focus on the works of Charles-Valentin Alkan, for which he is considered one of the leading interpreters. He is among the few artists who have recorded and performed Alkan’s complete Études Opus 39 in a single concert. His discography also includes music by Liszt and rare romantic repertoire.
A champion of neglected piano works, Maltempo’s repertoire ranges from baroque to modern composers, emphasizing lesser-known romantic masters. He has published concert transcriptions and actively promotes piano education as a teacher at Italian conservatories and as a founder and faculty member of the Imola Piano Academy in Eindhoven. His critically acclaimed recordings and dedication to both performance and teaching have established him as a prominent figure in contemporary classical music.
