5-string electric bass guitar that features Yamaha's unique A.I.R. (Alternative Internal Resonance) body construction, designed to give a full, solid-body sound with around 25% less weight. The instrument's structure consists of lightweight core material (Falcata) sandwiched in between solid materials (agathis). Strings passing through the backside of the body transmit energy throughout the entire body delivering outstanding resonance and excellent response. To provide the utmost in functionality, the A.I.R. compact bridge is designed without any protruding parts such as screws, etc. Sound tubes passing through the body underneath the bridge directly transmit string energy to the body. The bolt-on maple neck is fitted with rosewood fingerboard with 600mm radius and 24 medium frets. Scale length is 863.6 mm. The bass guitar is equipped with two original single-coil pickups with ceramic magnets that were developed to match the instrument's body design. They produce a well-shaped attack and clear tone with presence, and their tonal character is smooth from the low range through to the high, delivering some truly great distortion. The 3-control system includes front volume, rear volume, and master tone controls, plus the volume levels for both front and rear pickups are indicated by LED brightness.
