D12, short for the Dirty Dozen, was a prominent hip hop group from Detroit formed in 1996. The group featured Eminem, Proof, Bizarre, Kon Artis, Kuniva, and Swifty McVay as its main lineup. D12 gained international fame in the early 2000s with albums Devil's Night and D12 World, both of which achieved double platinum status and produced major hits like Purple Pills, My Band, and Fight Music. In 2004, they received the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Hip-Hop Act. Activity slowed after Proof's death in 2006 and Eminem stepping back from the group, although Bizarre, Kuniva, and Swifty McVay have continued to perform and release music as D12. Eminem formally announced his departure from the group in 2018.
