The Ruts, later known as The Ruts D.C., are an English band blending punk rock and reggae. They are best known for their 1979 UK top 10 single "Babylon's Burning" and the earlier track "In a Rut," which gained cult status through BBC Radio 1's John Peel. Their momentum was halted by the passing of singer Malcolm Owen in 1980. The group continued with a new style as Ruts D.C. until disbanding in 1983. They reformed in 2007, shortly before guitarist Paul Fox's death, and now feature original members John "Segs" Jennings and David Ruffy alongside guitarist Leigh Heggarty.
